Taxi Tote

I finished it, yay. It's such a great feeling. This is the first time I have done bias binding. Made way too much so now i'll have to find another project for it!!! It was relatively quick to make. The longest part being the patchwork, and having to resource the lining material cos I didn't buy enough!! I added a bag base using Nicole Mallalieu's tutorial found here. Had lots of fun. I didn't use template plastic as I have a contact in the plastic card industry!! so I pinched some print rejects as you can't see the print. Worked a treat. Thanks Nikki, and thanks Anna Maria for the lovely pattern.

I decided to make a quilt. I've been itching to do one for ages but very daunted at the prospect. Then I thought maybe I could just make a small one. I noticed one of my flickr contacts was in a doll quilt swap and I thought fantastic, just the size I need to start. Not going to dive in and make one similar to this expert I did a google search for doll quilt tutorials and came up with http://sewmamasew.com/blog2/?p=697 perfect for my first go. I wanted to make an accessory for another gift (not giving anything away!!!) So here goes quilt making!!

Mothers Day

WIP Taxi Tote

My hubby asked me what I would like to do on mothers day, one of the options was a craft day, who could resist that? So what can I make....

After my fabric buy on Friday I descided to make Anna Maria Horners Taxi Tote out of her Seams To Me book. I looked at the fabric and how much I needed, alas not enough. Haven't got used to the whole imperial way of measuring. So I decided to take two of the fabric pieces and piece them together to make enough fabric. Never done it before. Seems to be working so far :-)

He is also going to order a Nicole Mallalieu pattern for me, can't wait.

Finished hat, need a model!!

On my second attempt I think i got it right, not that this photo does it justice, may need to get someone to take a photo of me in it!! It's still a little me tight around the head but it will do. Now I just have to try it out. Wow a finished project, what to do next.....

You can find the project here.

First attempt at hat, too tight

Cos its been so cold i need a new hat. I saw this pattern in the lincraft catelog so thought I'd make it. You're supposed to use Angora Plus yarn from Lincraft but it was too expensive so I decided to use bamboozle yarn from Lincraft instead. This is my on the train project. Something I have decided to do seeing as my journey is about 45mins both ways. On my first attempt I have crotcheted it too tight. Hang over from making amigurami at the same time. So I have started again.

Ok, so I took a few craft books away with me, and I found myself having to at least attempt something from each one!! I love crotcheting amigurami but my fingures get a bit sore, i think I hold everything so tight. This is my night time project at the moment which I have to get finished by Sunday!! Better take it off the on hold list then.

Attempt at pattern in Homespun

It has been very cold here in the last couple of weeks, unusually cold for April, so I've been avoiding the study which has the computer and sewing machine in it, instead I have been curled up in front of the heater in the lounge crotcheting.

When I was away on holidays recently I took the latest Homespun Mag with me. In it is a lovely crotchet table cloth. Me being me and couldn't wait until I found a yarn store decided to try it with what I had. As a result it looked more like what we found on the beach than lovely uniform flat piece. Needles to say I used the wrong yarn for the needle. I will try again, one day so stay tuned.

Lovely crotchet pattern

Check out this pattern, it is now on my next to crotchet list, not that I don't have enought to complete first!!
